Test Equipment Software Engineer - Propulsion | Airborne Electronic Hardware

The Test Software Engineer is responsible for the development of system test software for our propulsion systems. These include dynamometers, propeller stands, and other test systems for BETA's electric engines. Join a highly dynamic and fast-moving team that will make the future of eVTOL aircraft a success. Work with our team to validate and write software for motor performance and control system stability, and help make our cutting-edge designs come to life!

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

• Develop software to carry out system test cases for motor system acceptance. Develop software for test operators to interact with efficiently.
• Develop Simulink models of test equipment that can run in simulation, as well as on a real-time computer such as a Speedgoat.
• Develop prototypes and run experiments to inform future designs.
• Willingness to help put together test hardware, run tests, and get involved in test planning.
• Follow review, release, and change processes.
• Provide peer reviews as an integral part of our software development team.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with both internal & external customers.
• High energy, self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Contribute to aspects of vehicle power system technology development including creating requirements, detail designing the subsystem, and testing of the subsystem to verify requirements have been met.
• Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems.

Minimum Qualifications we are seeking:

• BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree from an accredited University.
• Experience with network communications including CAN, Ethernet, and USB. 
• Proficiency with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Matlab, Simulink, python, oscilloscopes, version control using GIT, control systems, and signal processing.
• Experience designing and working with test executives.
• Good team, communication, and leadership skills are required.
• Google G Suite including drive, mail, calendar, docs, sheets, slides, charts, hangouts; slack, and application lifecycle. 

Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

• Experience with Speedgoat 
• Working knowledge of CAN, Ethernet
• Industry experience in the test of hardware systems, preferred Experience using Simulink Real-time, Speedgoats, OPAL-RT or other Hardware-in- the-Loop test environments.
• Prior work experience with power electronics test systems, and dynamometers.
• Working knowledge of control systems development (PID controllers, filter design, etc). 
• Experience bringing a software system, especially involved in embedded software, or test of a larger system to completion.
• Requirements writing and experience in a regulated industry (medical, aerospace, automotive).
• Familiarity with data visualization using MATLAB, Python, or R.
