Test Systems Engineer

Thermo King is hiring a Test Systems Engineer in Minneapolis, MN! Our Test Systems Engineer is a high-profile position with overall technical responsibility for developing high quality test lab controls and aide in software development. You will be a team member of our Testing and Development Lab overseeing one or more projects. You will work to define system designs, interfaces, and architectures for test cell control systems, embedded controllers, user interfaces, tools, and digital offerings. This role has been designated as on site work schedule and will be based out of our Bloomington, MN location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide overall technical leadership for new product development projects.
• Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test.
• Establish system architecture and perform system level design and decomposition into requirements.
• Evaluate trade-offs between possible solution approaches.
• Perform system analysis and interface definition.
• Perform system and performance test planning and execution.
• Lead design reviews and technical project reviews.
• Participate in failure investigation and resolution.

• Support and coach teams on process discipline for new product development.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Systems Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 0-3 years of experience in industry relating to process automation, signal measurement, or PLC equipment
• Experience with LabVIEW programming
• Ability to take project requirements and break them into software level tasks
• Follow coding standards and documentation requirements
• Assemble test fixtures and complete electrical wiring for sensors and data acquisition equipment
• Debug communication issues and troubleshoot equipment failures
• Strong communications, problem solving, and analytical skills
• An enjoyment for being hands on in a laboratory environment

Preferred Experience

• NI CLAD certification or higher
• Usage of revision control systems like Subversion
• NI cDAQ and PXI systems
• A variety of data acquisition equipment: Agilent, Fluke, Yokogawa
• Class architectures and UI design work in LabVIEW
• PID controllers
• VFD operation and programming: Danfoss, Allen Bradley, Durapulse
• Various protocols: Modbus (RTU), CAN (J1939), HTTP, RS232
• OPC Servers
• AWS database storage
• Raspberry Pi and Arduino microcontrollers

Physical Requirements

• Ability to communicate with others both written and orally, including the telephone. Mobility within the work facility.
• Lifting 25 pounds.

Base Compensation Range is $51,000 to $105,000. Disclaimer: This base salary range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
