Part Time Onsite Beehive Nurse/Child Care Health ConsultantAbout the beehive

The beehive is an Early Childhood Education Center that fosters a love of learning, curiosity, and a sense of community in the heart of downtown Denver. This is an opportunity to be a part of our staff in a light-filled, beautifully designed space with a focus on play-based education year round for infants through pre-k students. The beehive is a unique opportunity offering rich professional learning with a diverse group of curious and creative colleagues and a chance to make a difference.

The students of the beehive are ages 6 weeks to 6 years old and are all children of Guild Education Denver employees. We intend for our program to meet not just the bar for licensing, but to exceed higher-quality standards and practices in facility design, teacher ratios, and operations. The beehive is located on the 3rd floor of Republic Plaza’s annex building off the 16th Street Mall, adjacent to Guild’s office spaces. 

As the beehive Nurse/Child Care Health Consultant you will:
  • Serve as our Child Care Health Consultant per Colorado State Licensing.
  • Develop and maintain Beehive student medical records
  • Attend to the daily health needs of beehive students including specialized medical plans and delivery of daily and emergency medications.
  • Manage the beehive COVID-19 policy monitoring staff and student health following CDPHE, CDC and Denver Licensing guidelines on testing and Covid outbreaks at child care centers.
  • Support staff wellness policy.
  • Make sound decisions regarding the safety and wellbeing of children under all circumstances.
  • Provide well student care, health care, and first aid. 
  • Support parent education in a variety of medical areas related to infants, toddlers and children.
  • Ensure child safety in the classroom, outdoor space and in common areas.
  • Train staff on required licensing protocols and delegations.
  • Provide health & safety support to the corporate partner of the Beehive, Guild Education, as needed.

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:Required Proficiencies 
  • 1 or more years of experience working with young children as a medical professional.
  • An understanding of Colorado Licensing Rules and Regulations for childcare centers.
  • Beehive Nurse/Child Care Health Consultant must be one of the following:
    • A Licensed Registered Nurse in Colorado with knowledge and experience in maternal and child health;
    • A pediatric RN
    • A Physician in Colorado with knowledge and experience in pediatrics or maternal and child health.
  • Flexible availability hours between 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. 
  • Meet monthly with the beehive leadership team. The monthly consultation must be specific to the needs of the facility and include some of the following topics: staff training, delegation and supervision of medication administration and special health procedures, health care plans, hygiene, disease prevention, equipment safety, nutrition, interaction between children and adult caregivers, and child growth and development.

Child Care Health Consultants must complete the approved Child Care Health Consultants training within six (6) months of hire. The training must be renewed every three (3) years. The center must obtain and maintain proof of training completion.

  • Qualified candidates must complete the approved Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment immunization course annually. The center must obtain and maintain proof of course completion.
  • Qualified candidates must complete the approved training about child abuse prevention, which includes common symptoms and signs of child abuse or neglect. This training must be completed within thirty (30) days of hire and renewed every three (3) years
  • Follow protocols and trainings of Healthy Child Care Colorado.

Successful candidate will also need to be fingerprinted and fill out background checks with The Background Investigation Unit (BIU) Facility Child Abuse and Neglect (Trails) as directed by the beehive team. Candidates must possess a current certificate for Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and be able to renew it as required. 

Preferred Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the different developmental stages of children.
  • Pediatric experience
  • Nurturing and caring approach to working with children.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ADA - IDEA.

Physical Requirements:

  • Kneeling and bending may be required. 
  • Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. approximately individually

This is a part-time 20 hours a week, non-exempt position without benefits.

Pay range of $32-40 an hour.
