Theater Set Designer/Carpenter Position 2025-2026

In search of experienced theater set designer/carpenter to build sets for children's productions of our full season of shows including (Fall/Winter: Brigadoon, Wizard of Oz and Music Man KIDS and Spring: Mamma Mia or Alice By Heart, Oliver JR, and Wonka KIDS). Our shows take place in January and February and then again in June. Planning and designing would happen in August/September for the Jan/Feb shows and then in February for the June shows. Builds would take place in January and May/June. Strikes take place the first week of February and mid-June. With the director you will: - collaborate on the set design - collaborate on sourcing materials - provide rough drawings that will serve as guides to discuss and ensure clarity of communication Independently (with 1-2 assistants for 1-2 days as needed/requested) you will: - Build the sets - paint basic flat layers on sets or floor (in collaboration with director) - strike sets Qualifications: - Experience designing theatrical sets - Experience building theatrical sets with raised platforms and stairs taking into consideration that sets are built for use by children, safety is a priority.
