Job Summary: Oversee the total loss process while leading and coaching a team of inside Total Loss Handlers. The supervisor’s performance is based primarily on the results of their unit’s performance in areas such as timeliness and efficiency of the total loss claims handling, payment and rental costs management, total loss value and salvage returns, overall closing effectiveness and file quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties assigned as needed.
- Hire and mentor total loss handlers and assist with auto appraiser’s and evaluate employee performance against department goals.
- Recognize and provide training as needed for total loss handlers and assist with auto appraiser’s directly reporting to you.
- Review estimates, total loss evaluations, proper values being considered according to state compliance and file handling for compliance and authority.
- Maintain diary of pending files and update information to ensure a record of claims with continual review and monitored progress.
- Dispatching assignments and ensuring load level between the total loss handlers and assist with auto appraisers when necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise total loss handlers in the Claims department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training their employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Personal lines adjusting experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
- Detailed oriented with the ability to work independently. Be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
- Prior Total Loss & Auto Appraiser experience required.
- Ability to analyze and problem solve, working closely with others to coordinate and complete projects.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of total loss handling, auto repair techniques and multiple estimating systems
- Must be customer service oriented, highly organized and efficient.
- Multiple language skills a plus.
Computer Skills
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills.
Ability to learn multiple software applications
Microsoft Excel experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations TX Adjuster License
