About the Role
The Total Rewards Manager is responsible for developing compensation programs and implementing and managing benefit plans. Â The ideal candidate is a strategic and analytical individual who will leverage data to design and administer Total Reward programs, while performing the tasks outlined below.Â
CompensationÂ
- Designs and implements pay programs such as Short Term Incentive plans, policies and market studies – in collaboration with the Director of People Operations and business leaders. Â
- Administers Long Term Incentive programs In partnership with Finance. Responsible for the administration of Octave’s equity plan.
- Develop structure for equity bands within company bands for new hires, refresh and promotions.
- Develop, implement and review leveling structure
- Review and revise banding structures. Â Conduct individual position analysis based on job descriptions
- Review and revise executive and board level compensation plans
- Participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information, leveraging market pricing tools.
- Participates in projects related to compensation programs and compliance, such as incentive proposals, FLSA review and federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations. Â
- Manage the annual performance and merit planning process. Â Evaluate job descriptions to ensure they align with salary bands based on market data.Â
Benefits Administration
- Manage benefit programs, including: medical, dental, retirement, 401(k), and voluntary insurance plans.
- Support Finance in the 401K audit.
- Manage benefits vendor relationships, including insurance carriers and brokers
- Conduct benefits benchmarking and analysis. Â Evaluate future potential benefits to ensure the company is investing in the right areas to attract and retain diverse top talent. Â Present recommendations, changes, and enhancements to leadership.
- Provide a high level of customer service to employees by responding to benefits related inquiries.
- Support benefits related compliance and reporting (Non Discrimination Testing, Pharmacy reporting, ACA and Medicare Part D CMS reporting, etc).
- Manage open enrollment administration.
- Initiate carrier feed (EDI feed) changes during benefits renewal period and troubleshoot discrepancies from the weekly discrepancy reports.
- Maintains San Francisco HCSO compliance and reporting.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of compensation and benefits experience
- Experience with job evaluation, market pricing, and incentive plan design as well as designing pay structures for both hourly and professional positions required.
- Knowledge of compensation practices, processes, and compensation software (experience with Radford a plus).
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and research abilities.
- Self-motivated and organized with a strong sense of personal accountability and communication skills, including excellent written, verbal and presentation capabilities
- Advanced skill set in Microsoft Excel

Starting pay for qualified applicants will depend on a combination of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below and this range may be modified in the future.Â
The salary range for this role is $110,000 -$140,000.
Additionally, this position is eligible for the following benefits: company sponsored life insurance, disability and AD&D plans. Â Voluntary benefits such as 401k retirement, medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, dependent care and commuter/parking options are also available. Â Octave offers generous Paid Time Off as well as paid parental leave benefits.Â
