What We Do

Derivatives Services Delivery Group Overview and Team Functions

The Derivatives Services Delivery group is a global team within the Global Operations & Technology division of BNY Mellon responsible for supporting our clients' derivative custody and accounting processes. Our clients include many of the premier pension funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, endowments and other financial institutions that use over-the counter and cleared derivatives to manage their financial risks. Derivatives Service Delivery is specialized group that plays a key role in enabling many post-trade derivative functions. The team is part of the recently formed Derivatives Middle Office Center of Excellence in which staff have an exceptional opportunity to implement change and develop highly transferable skillsets. Amongst others these include, complex derivative product knowledge covering swaps, options, forwards, and futures, project management, an understanding of post-trade derivatives workflow and key industry processing systems, and client support and relationship management.

The key functions of this team include:
  • Processing transactions based on instructions or driven by scheduled events.
  • Answering inquiries and queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assessing needs and recommending alternative approaches to service models.
  • Participating in testing to ensure that our products continue to process high value transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Investigating reconciliation breaks across internal BNY Mellon systems and with external parties.
  • Supporting the custody needs of our clients and their appointed Investment Managers for cash and securities movement and settlement.
  • Working with investment managers to streamline instruction transmission
  • Compiling and distributing metrics and management information for reporting.
  • Facilitating the onboarding of new clients and new business.

Trade Capture Group Manager Overview

As a Trade Capture Group Manager, you and your teams will be responsible for timely and accurate recording of derivative transactions into our client accounts. You will be tasked with daily oversight of communication with Investment Managers and be responsible for streamlining instruction transmission and processing. You will partner with global teams to develop and maintain a consistent processing methodology and will be responsible for ensuring adherence across your team. You will be a key driver in the identification, development and implementation of process changes, and be actively involved in broader strategic objectives on behalf of the department

Job Responsibilities
  • Manages multiple teams responsible for derivative trade capture across multiple systems; You will help them understand complex transactions, understand BNY systems, and identify potential issues
  • Manages teams that will act as the primary point of contact with Investment Managers; Your teams will work with Investment Managers to address behavior, facilitate automation, reduce bespoke processes, and escalate issues
  • Partners with teams across Operations, Accounting, and Front Office to address issues stemming from, and impacting, trade capture - looking for strategic, consistent, and sustainable approaches to address problems
  • Partners with Technology on strategic initiatives; Drives a cohesive and consistent approach for long term, multi phased projects
  • Works creatively to develop and implement Ops owned tools for short term impact
  • Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contributions, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required with an MBA is preferred.
  • Seven to ten (7-10) years of total work experience with at least one to three (1-3) years of management experience preferred.
  • Experience in an operational area and/or client services preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • More than twelve ( 12+) years of work experience, with hands on knowledge of derivative processing, reconciliation management and/ or the custody business
  • Previous exper ience as a manager.
  • Proven experience implementing change.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills - and the ability to interact with Senior Bank Leadership and our clients.
