Trade Execution Intern
Job Description
Position Summary:
Drafting and preparing documents for exporting and negotiation of documents with buyers, banks for international shipments of commodities in containers. Routinely working with trans-load facilities, steam ship lines, USDA/FGIS entities and inspectors along with Independent laboratories to provide documentation for the preparation of the export documentation. Involves a certain amount of negotiation and timely resolution of issuance of documentation meeting each country requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
- Extensive customer service responsibilities including resolution of problems and discrepancies as well as building relationships.
- Collaborate as needed with Logistics, steam ship lines, traders on changes to contract applications and documentation requirements and revisions.
- Collaborate with independent labs and loading facilities on all quality issues.
- Monitor accounts receivable for counterparty accounts and ensure timely receipt of invoice payments
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments
- Establish and maintain a positive and effective relationship with the business desks to create a strong business partnership
- Tracking shipments ensuring accuracy for sail dates and timing of document production.
- Working with steam ship lines on receipts of BL's and following up on split and rolled shipments.
- Proofing BL's for accuracy against shipping instructions.
- Work proactively to ensure all policies are followed.
- Provide excellent customer service by fostering positive relationships.

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 2 years of college level coursework and/or applicable trade school program, working towards a bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics
- Ability to effectively work as part of a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly motivated team with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - particularly Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently and multi-task.
Special Demands:
- Position is located in an open-concept office environment requiring prolonged periods of sitting and the ability to focus amidst surrounding activity.
- Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment (copier, calculator, printer)
