Job Description

The Trade Operations Specialist IV is the lead for the team. Provides training and information to the team and management on new regulation, policy and International Chamber of Commerce rules updates. Manages and maintains department procedures for trade products and BSA/AML adherence. Sits on the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade a global transaction banking association, Southwest Committee to keep current on industry and market events. Manages customer set up and transaction issues with the department's customer facing platform Trade Advance. Works in conjunction with BA's to maintain and support the departments back office system. Consultant to internal and external customers on letters of credit as well as prepares documentation under export letters of credit.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will manage acquisition projects including gathering the letters of credit, auditing files, onboarding them onto our back office system and generating correspondence regarding new bank information. Also manage all projects related to trade services project in correlation with product management, business analysis and vendors.
  • You will provide support and guidance to Trade Operations Specialist I, II and III. Approve their transactions and ensure they are complete and accurate.
  • You will review letter of credit language for compliance with the International Chamber of Commerce publication guidelines and rules UCP600, ISP98 as well as the UCC. Provide letter of credit consultation to relationship managers and customers in regards to language compliance and workability.
  • You will consult with exporters to prepare and present documents for payment under export letters of credit. Examine documents presented under standby, export and import letters of credit for compliance. Communicate finding to foreign banks and customers. Facilitate in the negotiation.
  • You will complete customer and prospect calls with Relationship Bankers or International Sales specialists. Complete systems and product training with customers. Provide support and work as a backup for the International Department manager.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree Business or Business and 10+ years of International Banking experience along with a CDCS certification.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of International Standby Practices
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and accurate in a deadline-driven, multitask-oriented environment.
  • Hold a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist Certificate and complete certificate CPU education.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and accurate in a deadline-driven, multitask-oriented environment
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with clients and all levels of Bank personnel.
