Tradeshow & Events Leader
Job Description
We're looking for a strong, passionate leader for all of our U.S. trade shows and events with a focus on delivering engaging experiences while generating results. With over 65 U.S.-based trade shows plus intimate customer roundtables, our annual sales kick-off and premier customer event, this leader needs to be strategic, highly organized, influential, polished and comfortable dealing within a matrixed environment with c-level and other key stakeholders.
What you'll do:
- Lead the USIS tradeshow and event management function including two direct reports (this is a Player/Coach position)
- Develop and lead a BU driven tradeshow/events strategy, structure and processes including KPI benchmarks and tracking
- Manage all trade show/event supplier relationships to deliver programs, services and support resources to meet and exceed expectations and deliver a memorable experience
- Negotiate all supplier/hotel/venue contracts, scope and manage budgets and purchase order process with our marketing operations team. Work extremely closely with the Industry and Partner marketers to provide best practices, templates, etc. they can use with their sales counterparts to communicate effectively
- Align resources to support all events including communications, speakers, AV equipment and staging, registration, hotel arrangements, giveaways and gifts, etc.
- Produce trade shows and events ensuring consistency and collaboration while following established guidelines, processes, procedures and tools. Educate cross functional teams, provide direction & establish solutions where appropriate
- Lead, manage and execute the following:
- Provide regular updates to keep all stakeholders abreast of upcoming events and deadlines
- Evaluate and manage current and future booth requirements such bas booth size, design and graphics
- Manage and coordinate the logistics of the exhibit property including maintenance of the trade show exhibit, demonstration equipment and all accessories
- Work with Industry/Partner marketer on a post-show analysis, including metrics.
- Recognize opportunities to sponsor conference sessions that align with marketing goals
What experience you need
- College degree in Marketing or related field
- 7+ years experience leading/managing large scale events
- Willing to to travel up to 25%
What could set you apart
- CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) certification
- CTSM (Certified Trade Show Marketer) ideally within a large global organization
- Experience working with demanding C-suite executives, including, but not limited to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team
- Experience negotiating complex vendor contracts (hotel, event vendors, speaking agents, etc.)
- Budget management experience for large-scale meetings and events
- Excellent client relations & customer service skills
- Understand production requirements and timelines of trade show production
- Ability to act quickly and decisively with solutions to unexpected issues
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) both internally and externally
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
- Verified project management skills; ability to plan, manage and complete projects
- Strong time management and ability to handle multiple demands and sets priorities
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to motivate team
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and in a fast moving environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and/or to effectively communicate deviations of deadlines on a daily basis
- Ability to maintain focus on priorities while multitasking.
