Trading Assistant (Emerging Markets)

The Company

BlueCrest Capital Management is a London based, mixed arbitrage private hedge fund manager that trades across a number of products and geographic locations. BlueCrest launched its first fund in 2000 and has won a number of top hedge fund awards since.
In December 2015 BlueCrest announced its intention to become a private investment partnership and continues to operate on a competitive scale working across 4 key geographic regions, operating across multiple markets.

Emerging Markets team consists of over 30 Portfolio Managers with offices in NY, Miami, London, Geneva and Singapore. The team trades a variety of instruments, mostly Rates, FX, Credit and other derivatives, across Asia, Ceemea and Latin America, to profit from market themes and opportunities as they arise. The North America team consists of 9 experienced Portfolio Managers with a strong track record in Emerging Markets macro trading.

The Trading Assistant role provides an opportunity to work closely with Portfolio Managers and interact directly with market makers and sales people.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Booking deals and monitoring positions, and ensuring integrity of positions held in the system
• Executing trades and risk managing books for Portfolio Managers
• Liaising between the trading desk and support functions (middle/back office), as well as external counterparties
• Managing projects that improve desk efficiency as and when they arise
• Pricing and administering unwinds and novation protocol
• Doing quantitative work to build tools to improve trading on the desk

Experience required:

• Working experience in either front office sales/trading roles, or middle office operation/product control roles, with good understanding of EM Latin America rates and FX products and market dynamics.
• A degree from a reputable university with a demonstrated interest in investment products, in particular, credit, rates, FX and derivatives.
• Strong multi-tasking skill – able to prioritise and manage several different tasks at once, and strong organisation skills.
• Have an excellent eye for detail and be very thorough in the checks and processes.
• Good communication skill, as the role would require constant liaisons with internal support functions and external counterparties.
• Good analytical and Excel spreadsheet skill, as the role would require ad-hoc projects and spreadsheet buildings to enhance the efficiency of daily work.
• Ability to excel in fast paced trading environment while remaining organized and detail oriented.
