Traffic Coordinator
Job Description
Position Summary
The Traffic Coordinator works with various departments and individuals in an organization to ensure carriers are scheduled and flow through the Distribution Center in a timely manner. Traffic Coordinators must have good planning skills and the ability to anticipate problems and develop a plan of action to prevent delays in the organization's workflow. Coordinators must communicate with individuals at different levels in the organization and may be required to prepare and present reports for upper management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Work with outside carriers, customers, or internal departments to develop a schedule for the delivery of products to their proper Distribution Center
- Monitor the flow of appointments through the process to ensure on-time pickup and delivery
- Troubleshoot problems to remain on schedule
- Monitor communication and work between departments or carriers
- Assists with operational procedures including sorting, loading/unloading activities, shipment processing and documentation, manifesting, packaging, and sending shipment status information
- Inbound/Outbound data entry
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Appropriate work experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds and be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Cognitive/Mental Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to comprehend and use basic language, either written or spoken, to communicate simple and complex information, ideas, and information. The employee is also required to use logic to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information, and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations. The employee must use problem-solving skills to formulate and apply appropriate courses of action for routine or familiar situations. The employee may be required to perform numerical operations including basic counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing or more complex quantitative calculations.
- Work Environment: This position is primarily performed in a warehouse and office with varying degrees of temperatures.
