Traffic TEC Lead (Utah)

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Utah Traffic Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Lead. The Traffic TEC Lead will focus on resource coordination, team development, project quality, delivery, general marketing for key client accounts, and project pursuits that will help to further strengthen our presence in the Southwest Mountain markets. This person will provide leadership to a talented group of professionals spanning all career levels as they work on a multitude of traffic projects. The Traffic TEC Lead will rely upon a strong general traffic and roadway engineering background to excel at staff development, project coordination, client relations, and mentoring staff.

Your Impact

• Provide leadership, oversight, mentoring and overall management of the Traffic Team.
• Leads growth and development of the Traffic team, including interfacing with the Local Business Leaders, local office TECs and individual staff members, meeting with clients to develop and expand work, and strategically teaming with other consultants.
• Performs a range of marketing and business development activities for key client accounts, including gathering client intelligence, leading pursuits and proposals, and interfacing through professional organizations.
• Manages tasks as part of project development, including work plan development, plan and report production.
• Interfaces with staff from a range of other disciplines (traffic, roadway, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.
• Improve overall quality and delivery of projects.
• Assists in supporting agency coordination, permitting, and public participation activities.
• Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide "trusted advisor" service and future ready solutions for clients.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

The Traffic TEC Lead must be able to excel in technical, business development, marketing, people management, and project management roles. Experience working in the Utah market area is a plus.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and traffic design and infrastructure.
• Minimum 5 years leading, managing, and mentoring multidisciplinary teams of engineers and technicians.
• Demonstrated experience with State and local governments, contractors, transportation agencies and professional organizations.
• Strong history and experience with DOT projects and programs
• Strong project management skills and experience
• Strong technical skills relevant to highway and/or site civil design and analysis.
• Working experience with marketing, business development, project pursuits, and proposal preparation.
• Experience mentoring and developing technical capabilities of mid-level and junior staff.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong management and interpersonal skills
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
• Design-build experience on owner's rep or contractor design teams.
