Training Content Creator I

Job Description

The Training Content Creator is primarily responsible for the creation and maintenance of content on Inductive University. They develop new instructional videos while also helping update our existing library. To ensure top quality production, they will proactively review for updates and create new content on a weekly basis, generating in-depth technical content. This is a full-time position with remote, hybrid and on-site opportunities available.

Responsibilities

• Creating new Inductive University content, including but not limited to: planning/researching, script writing, recording narration, recording screen capture, developing visual aides/diagrams, video editing
• Updating outdated existing videos
• Working on video projects of limited complexity
• Developing new challenge questions for the credential process
• Working with all divisions to ensure established milestones for content projects are met
• Developing awareness of our audience and their documentation needs
• Communicating professionally and technically with internal subject matter experts
• Contributing to assigned projects as directed by the project lead
• Developing and maintaining a basic level of product knowledge for Inductive Automation products, including recognizing general terminology and user interfaces; staying current with software updates that impact written and visual content
• Performing any other duties as assigned by Documentation Department Management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, education, or an equivalent field
• 1-2+ years experience in developing training/instructional videos on technical topics
• Able to research and plan new content ideas with a moderate amount of supervision
• Experience with developing guides and tutorials that typically deal with complex subjects
• Strong verbal communication skills
• A background in developing training videos, or an interest in learning how to develop them
• Background in computer science or an equivalent field preferred
• Familiarity with a coding language (Python, Java, C++, etc.)
• Familiarity with video editing software (Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, etc)
• Familiarity with screen capture software, such as OBS
• Basic understanding of how to troubleshoot simple audio issues on a computer
• Ability to attain basic proficiency in Ignition within 30 business days of hire. Proficiency can be demonstrated by completing an internal training course and/or by passing the Ignition Core Certification exam
