Training Program Assistant Director
Job Description
WestCoast Children’s Clinic, located in Oakland, California, is a non-profit community psychology clinic that provides mental health services to Bay Area children, youth and families. The Training Program Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the oversight and implementation of WestCoast Children’s Clinic’s community training program, policies, and procedures. The components of the community training program include external community and caregiver trainings, trainings for clinical programs including continuing education programs, CANS/TCOM training (internal and external), CSEC training, and clinic-wide trainings. The role also supports program promotion and oversight, recruitment of qualified presenters in accordance to training plan and goals, and the administration of the professional development stipend program. The Assistant Director of Training will work under the direction of the Director of Clinical & Community Training in thinking strategically about WestCoast’s vision for education and its integration into the overall goals of the organization.

The Training Program Assistant Director provides:
Training Oversight, Development, and Implementation (20%):
- Supports the oversight for the development and implementation of the Agency’s clinical and community training, orientation, and professional development programs.
- Collaborates with other program directors, coordinators, and managers to understand and identify all necessary aspects and needs of staff training based on projected program processes, changes, and other factors.
- Collaborates on the analysis of training needs to develop new training programs or to modify and improve existing programs.
- Evaluates effectiveness of training presentations and instructor performance.
- Exercises cultural sensitive and responsiveness at all levels through ongoing efforts to engage diverse individuals, groups, and communities in the training program.
- Develops and provides new trainings and educational programs, including the preparation of new materials.
- Plans and delivers training courses personally where necessary to augment that provided externally or internally by others.
- Interfaces with external training and accreditation bodies, community partners, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards.
- Supports oversight for the Title IV E Budget
CANS Project Management (30%):
- Participates in the CANS Provider Collaborative with other county stakeholders.Â
- Provides training on the CANS within Alameda County (e.g., certification, strengths-based treatment, engagement, etc.)
- Provides coaching to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) on topics related to CANS training, usage, and implementation.
- Supports the oversight of contract requirements, including tracking of hours and invoicing.
- Collaborates with internal and external members to ensure contract goals are met.
Clinical Supervision (50%):
- Provide direct, individual and group clinical supervision for providers (including trainees, pre-licensed, non-licensed, and licensed staff).
- Provide ongoing, regular feedback and evaluation to supervisees on their direct service and professional development.
- Solicit feedback from supervisees regarding supervision and whether needs are being met.
- Communicate quality of supervisee’s work to Program Director(s) in a timely manner.
- Ensure that supervisee complies with all legal and ethical practices, co-sign supervisee’s progress notes, clinical forms, and correspondence as a legal representative of WestCoast.
- Participate in WestCoast meetings, administrative program meetings and trainings as required.
- Provides annual performance evaluations of supervisee. (For interns, performance evaluations occur formally four times a year. Intern supervisors will also provide notes on training progress meetings, and have ongoing evaluation conversations with the Intern Training Program Director.)
- Adheres to requirements for supervisors as stipulated by WestCoast policies and procedures, Board of Psychology, Board of Behavioral Sciences, and the California Medical Board rules and regulations.
- Identify training needs to the Program Director.
- Monitors, supports and trains where needed to assist supervisee in meeting WestCoast service delivery expectation and caseload requirements, charting, record keeping, and documentation standards, and all other quality assurance standards.
- Aid the supervisee to develop training/professional development goals for the year, and collaboratively monitor progress toward those goals
- All duties listed above are facilitated in English and Spanish.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Licensed Psychologist or LCSW/LMFT with a minimum of two years post-licensure experience.
- Experienced in providing psychological assessment, individual psychotherapy/clinical case management, group psychotherapy and/or family therapy to system involved Transition Aged Youth in a community-based setting.
- Experience in working with diverse communities along with DEI knowledge and cultural humility regarding race, class, SOGIE, and ethnicity.
- Experience with Medi-Cal reimbursement, billing, and documentation policies and procedures.

- Knowledge of community mental health systems and the delivery of mental health services
- Knowledge of community resources in Alameda County
Position Details and Compensation:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary starting at $98,000 per year and includes benefits package, 403b retirement contribution and performance-based compensation plans.
