Training Specialist

This role directly reports to the Learning and Development Manager and drives aspects of learning and development programs, processes and technology from the corporate business level. The Training Specialist acts a subject matter expert to HR and leaders for learning and development function. The individual will be responsible for understanding the development of our employees at all levels within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
May include but not limited to the following:
- Serve as a business partner to HR and leaders supporting the business needs as learning subject matter expert
- Identify learning and development opportunities through needs assessment on employees’ knowledge and capabilities to make recommendations for training, career development, and performance improvement
- Support corporate learning initiatives, projects and programs as requested by business
- Design and implement communications and marketing to encourage utilization of training platforms and courses as development opportunities
- Create training to support business including e-learning, videos and other delivery formats or materials and work with subject matter experts
- Work with assigned vendors on the design and development for learning projects and programs and serve as the point of contact in managing the business relationship
- Determine and recommend best practices and processes that support training efforts across business for continuous improvement
- Assist with development of learning and development strategy for business area looking at company data and talent development trends
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferably learning development, talent development or human resource development or equivalent experienceÂ
- Minimum 5 years oexperience working in the learning and development function in manufacturing industry (or related)
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design
- Experience administrating and maintaining a Learning Management System – Cornerstone preferred
- Demonstrated skill in business partnering, instructional design knowledge and learning creation software (such as Articulate Storyline/Rise and others)
- Experience consulting on learning needs as tied to business challenges and goals
- Strong presentation skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels of organization
- Strong project management skills
- Facilitation experience a plus.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on full time basis
- Travel: Estimate approximately 20% of the time
- Location: Houston – on-site
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk; use hand to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch.Â
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto may occasionally be required.
