Department Overview
The Global Procurement Organization provides the resources, processes, governance, systems and controls for acquiring goods and services efficiently, effectively and ethically from a diverse​ ​supply base that provides Motorola Solutions a competitive advantage on cost, quality, technology, service and delivery. This position is part of the Supply Chain Procurement Team in the Product Procurement Organization.The Global Procurement team has evolved beyond traditional sourcing and procurement goals by creating value for the business; improving profitability, increasing supplier collaboration, and supporting new solutions development. We are a client focused team designed to bring value and help lead innovations within the business as a trusted adviser to the product teams.

We are looking for someone in the Chicagoland area - a commutable distance from time to time as needed to Elin, IL or Chicago, IL
The Transportation and Logistics Procurement Manager will have oversight for all freight and third party logistics spend. This position will be responsible for developing and executing long term robust strategic procurement plans that ensure that the products and services provided to the business by the selected supply partners deliver the best value outcome for the company. The ideal candidate will have effectively demonstrated an ability to continuously deliver cost savings opportunities, build a strategic supplier relationship, establish better services, and demonstrate leadership.
In this role, key responsibilities will include:
Global Category Manager for all modes of Transportation (Heavy Weight Air, Ocean, Trucking, and Parcel) and Logistics.
Identify and deliver regional logistics sourcing across all business including acquisitions.
Ensure communication and alignment of goals company-wide.
Develop and deliver regional Strategic Roadmap of Logistics Sourcing in line with Global strategy to drive category Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), procurement excellence, and value
Define and implement global category strategies
Manage and report supplier scorecards
Negotiate complex contracts and rates
Engage with the senior leadership teams of our key Transportation & Logistics Suppliers to strengthen our relationships
Establish and lead process to review pricing and ensure that projected costs savings are realized
Drive management routines to monitor outcomes as per goals established
Propose and drive corrective actions to keep metrics that matter on track
Drive continuous improvement programs, develop and roll-out best practices
Prepare and present procurement budgets
Understand and plan for variances to budget. Adjust plan as needed
Work with all levels of the business to evaluate requirements for goods and services for the categories managed
Partner with Supply Chain to review supplier strategic position globally and develop / execute category strategies to streamline the supply base
Lead and manage Quarterly business reviews with key suppliers and identify key savings opportunitiesÂ
Perform other duties as assigned
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree (Required), Master’s Degree (Preferred)
Experience with Supplier Management
Transportation expertise, especially Heavy Weight Air service, required
Strong business acumen with excellent understanding of markets and how they operate and will impact the business is required.
Collaborative and persuasive with an ability to influence change at all levels is required.
Experience with e-procurement, SAP systems, Logistics systems / Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is preferred
Logistics / Warehouse Procurement experience
Excellent negotiation skills
Transportation and Logistics industry knowledge
Strong analytical skills
Strong knowledge of category management processes and systems
Excellent communication / presentation skills
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to multitask
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
5 or more years of Supplier Management experience including either Transportation/Logistics Procurement or Operations experience.
