Transportation Supervisor

OPPORTUNITY

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the safe, cost effective, and legally compliant transportation of all Hydrite products via Hydrite’s private fleet. This position is site-specific and is part of the Hydrite Transportation Team.

As Transportation Supervisor, primary responsibilities include:

• Ensures the safe operation of the site’s private fleet.
• Supports the site Transportation Manager in the oversight of drivers, equipment and compliance
• Support and answer operational/procedural questions from drivers
• Directs supervision of private fleet drivers and other Transportation team members at the site. 
• Reviews driver utilization, equipment utilization, and repair activity reports regularly to ensure the fleet is being run cost-effectively. 
• Regularly monitors compliance records, permits, and activities associated with transportation to drive accountability throughout the department.  Inspect what you expect.
• Coaching drivers and transportation staff on safety and operational best practices to empower staff to take ownership of HCC safety values and HTC mission and vision.
• Regular driver ride alongs for coaching and engagement
• Assist site manager with equipment maintenance
• Drive retention initiatives through good hiring practices, employee engagement, and other company retention programs.
• In partnership with the site operations management team and Customer Service, ensures freight is delivered timely to our internal and external customers. 
• Ensures team members are using all systems and equipment effectively as required. 
• Provides quality service to all internal and external Hydrite customers.
• Guides employee performance and development through the use of daily communication and performance evaluations.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

• This position reports to the Transportation Manager.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

• Candidates should have strong knowledge of dispatch operations, transportation management, and logistics solutions with a broad knowledge in DOT rules and regulations.
• Must have at least 1 year supervisory experience in a trucking or warehouse environment; bulk tank truck experience preferred.
• Experience working with a TMS and dispatching system highly preferred; experience with E2Open  and Samsara DriveCam systems preferred but not required. 
• Must have strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, and possess the ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Associates degree is preferred.
• Class A CDL is preferred.
