  • Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) position at Monument Health, Rapid City Hospital
  • 16 inpatient beds
  • Minimum experience: 1 year of general nursing experience
  • First-time travelers accepted with greater than 1 year of experience
  • Travelers must live 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility
  • Permanent staff must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler
  • Patient Types: PCU/IMC RN needed – mixed acuity unit with Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg patients
  • Patient Ratios: RN – 1:4, Days & Nights
    Job Requirements
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Comfortable working with MedSurg assignments
  • IMC/PCU level experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, titratable vasoactive drips, proficient in chest ports
    Schedule Information
  • Weekend rotation – Yes, every other
  • No call required
  • Available to work holiday during contract unless prior arrangements agreed upon; 2/4 major holidays
  • Able to approve 1.5 weeks off – must extend contract to accommodate a full 13-week contract
  • No RTO will be considered during the first 3 weeks of August annually (Sturgis Bike Rally)
    Unit Specific Information
  • Travelers must have EPIC experience
  • 2 orientation shifts with qualified preceptor from department
  • Floating may occur to any Adult Inpatient Unit - Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, Observation

  • Audits are done monthly for Pre/Post pain scoring - Must meet 90% compliance with audits.
