Assist CVOR CST Required certifications: BLS, First Assist certification along with one of the following CST certification if required by the Indiana State law or completion of surgical technology education prior to 2009, or RN license, or Certified Surgical Assistant. Scope of role: acting as the primary surgical assistant during a cardiovascular surgery, actively helping the surgeon with tasks like tissue handling, exposure, hemostasis, and closure of the incision, while maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgeon s needs throughout the operation, assisting in room turn over to assist in the flow of surgical cases, must be able to cannulate when going on bypass and coming off bypass, and may need to pass cannulation suture Years of experience: 2 years required Floating: could float to Main OR Required skills: must be able to suture as directed by the surgeons, strong cardiac skills. will not accept candidates who were surgeons/physicians in another country.
