Job Description
Participates in an apprenticeship program centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed. Gains exposure to assigned department through guest speakers and on the job training with a mentor to gain a broader understanding of the operations function and career opportunities across the bank.
Primary Responsibilities:
Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.
Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable.
Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Business Operations Apprentice participates in a comprehensive training program designed to launch the candidate's career in a banking operations related field. The Program offers a combination of career planning, technical and competency-based training, and mentorship activities to prepare incumbents for a successful career in banking and financial services.
Works under immediate supervision.

Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Currently pursuing a related degree or credential
Authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without additional sponsorship
Education and Experience Preferred:
Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in pertinent software, particularly spreadsheet software
Proven analytical skills
Proven critical thinking skills
Strong organizational skills
