Treasury Manager
Job Description
A leader in the Transportation industry, Werner Enterprises is looking for a Treasury Manager to help manage the administration of the company's debt, banking structure, cash management and disbursements practices. This role will play a crucial role in Corporate Treasury and will support Werner's leading market position and growing our diversified business model. The successful candidate will have a combination of financial expertise, technical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to support the organization's treasury, cash management and disbursement objectives.
This position will be responsible for cash management, debt analysis and management, bank account administration, compliance and policy management. The role will work closely with Accounts Payable team to develop/document policies and compliance supporting Werner's implementation of a new financial system. The Treasury Manager will interact with senior management, internal stakeholders and external partners, and will assist with the servicing, reporting, and ongoing transaction management of our funding sources. This role will continually seek to build efficiencies and improve processes, procedures, and workstation capabilities to help build a treasury infrastructure to support the Company's growth.
Responsibilities:
Cash Management and Banking:
- Manage daily cash position and liquidity reporting, including reconciliation, forecasting, and payment initiation.
- Update and maintain daily reporting to assist Treasury management in decision-making regarding liquidity and forecast impacts.
- Streamline cash management and forecasting processes.
- Work with Treasury management in implementing and maintaining cash concentration strategies and execution.
- Work with external banking partners to implement bank account products and services.
- Lead monthly/quarterly audits of bank account access.
- Manage bank account and internal funding structures.
Policy, Compliance, and Process Management:
- Assist with SOX certification, process and control narratives, and audit support for Treasury related activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Document and implement best practices for Treasury processes.
- Implement technological solutions for process optimization through data transformation and automation to create reports and dashboards.
Cross-Group Collaboration:
- Liaison between Treasury and other parts of Werner regarding banking and payment inquiries and processes.
- Establish strong relationships with finance, accounting, tax, accounts payable, and credit/collections teams.
- Primary contact for accounting team with close inquiries.
Debt Administration:
- Assist senior treasury staff with debt administration, borrowing mechanics, interest and swap reconciliations, debt repayments, rollovers, and compliance.
- Provide reporting to finance and accounting teams to assist in accurate recording and reporting of investment activities, swaps, and debt-related transactions.
Disbursements:
- Develop and document processes, polices and controls to support AP use of Workday.
- Manage Travel and Entertainment policy compliance, including managing outstanding credit cards and approval levels.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams manage all payment types and monitor usage.
- Support AP and IT in implementation of Workday and adoption of straight through processing of disbursement practices.
Other:
- Continually learn about banking, cash management, treasury systems, technology, and best practices.
- Prepare reports and presentations related to treasury activities as directed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in banking, corporate treasury, accounting, financial modeling, accounts payable or financial analysis.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel skills, particularly working with large datasets.
- Technical skills to manipulate and analyze large datasets in various formats.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, particularly with Finance and IT teams.
- Professional representation of the organization and maintenance of relationships with banking partners.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and proven record of meeting deadlines consistently.
- Preferred knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Preferred experience with Workday or other large cloud-based ERP systems and treasury workstation software (e.g., Kyriba, Reval, or ERP treasury modules).
