Primary Responsibilities
- Perform desk top route selection, and evaluate feasibility for design and construction of trenchless crossings
- Evaluate surface and subsurface conditions based on collected data to determine the feasibility of trenchless construction and preferred technique
- Carry out site reconnaissance visits
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding project status and technical discussions related to trenchless construction applications
- Assess the application of trenchless technologies (Horizontal Directional Drilling, micro tunneling, tunneling, Direct Pipe, etc.) and participate in the definition and selection of preferred method(s)
- Perform calculations to determine carrier pipe and coating specifications
- Define workspace requirements for applicable construction equipment at trenchless crossing locations
- Prepare and/or review project documentation including project design/construction specifications, bid packages, drawings, design reports, engineering assessments, and data sets
- Interface with the project team and other Company functions throughout project execution
- Develop permit application documents and drawings
- Ensure that documents, calculations, and reports are in compliance with the governing project legislation and standardization
- Prepare field engineering and as-built documents
- Perform construction oversight, monitoring and reporting on daily construction activities, identifying problematic conditions, and providing recommendations

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related discipline
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Previous experience working within an engineering team in trenchless technology design activities
- Strong writing and computer skills, including proven experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of trenchless construction methods
- Travel is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Prior experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling, micro tunneling, and/or DirectPipe
- Project Management experience
- EIT certification and desire for pursuing PE credentials
- Experience in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and/or Ohio with trenchless projects
- Preference will be given to local candidates
