The Tennessean is seeking a Trending Sports Writer for its award-winning sports team in Nashville. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic journalist who understands audience building, is capable of executing and evolving existing digital strategy and will be building block in a hard-working sports news-gathering operation. Night and weekend work will be required.
The job will require collaboration with an existing Trending Sports Writer to capture sports conversations around the clock, particularly in Nashville but also throughout the South Region of the USA Today Network, which includes sites in Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Job duties include aggregating sports news, writing unique trend pieces based on the news and optimizing andediting breaking news for maximum reach on search and social. Previous experience is preferred, but entry-level candidates will be considered.
