Trends and Insight Associate (Remote/Hybrid)

The Trend and Insights Associate will focus primarily on Men's, Kids, and Home. This person has an excellent eye for trends, as seen through the lens of our customer. The Trend and Insight Associate builds strong relationships with their merchant partners and guides them on a journey through market trends that will directly influence our assortment. This role is NYC-based and will report to the Trend and Insights Manager, who is also NYC-based. In this role, you will work closely with your merchant partners by attending market meetings and providing quarterly forecast presentations on macro and micro trends. As the Trend and Insights Associate, you will attend trade shows and market appointments, noting trends that buyers are buying into in a big way and sharing those insights with your partners. The Trend and Insights Associate uses their industry knowledge to create shopping trips and guides by creating thoughtful shopping routes for the teams while in market

Job Functions

• Ability to analyze trend forecast reports and retail through the lens of the Belk consumer and assemble creative and impactful presentations for merchant and cross functional partners.
• Passion for industry and retail trends with an ability to influence and inspire trend story telling moments.
• Strong communication skills and building relationships with cross functional teams to aid in the implementation of trend moments into assortments/marketing.
• Elevated taste level and an exceptional eye for industry brands and trends related to Men's, Kids, and Home Departments
• Experience in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
• Highly organized and motivated with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at a time.
• New York Based - but will travel to Charlotte for impact weeks (2 Nights/month)

Project Responsibilities

• Quarterly Forecasting Presentations: Lead Men's, Kid's, and Home Trend Office with quarterly trend forecasting presentations to communicate macro & micro trends to the DMM and merchant teams. Therefore, must have exceptional eye for identifying trends forecasted from trend services (WGSN) and at retail and looking at them through the lens of the Belk consumer.
• Emails: Sending monthly internal trend emails showcasing fashion trends forecasted, at retail and in market appointments that align with Belk customer to inspire, and story tell retail trends to cross-functional businesses (Merchants, Design, Planning, & Visual)
• Tradeshows/Market Appointments: Attend tradeshows and market appointments in NY (as well as outside of NY) coming prepared to lead the group with brand research recommendations and insights. Forming strong relationships with brands and communicating any trends our teams are buying into for marketing messages across house marketing messages.
• Shopping trips: Responsible for researching and creating thoughtful shopping routes to take Belk merchandising and Design teams on showcasing outstanding examples of relevant industry fashion trends around New York City.
• TrendEdit: Assist Trend Insights Manager on customer facing TrendEdit concept and assortment that is displayed in-store and online.
• Fashion Moments & Keywords: Communicate trends and new brands to marketing to utilize for homepage and search bar phrases.
