Truck Driver Class A SUMMARYCoast Aluminum is a metal distributor operating multiple locations all over the west coast. As a driver for our Kent warehouse, you will be responsible for delivering raw metal to customers throughout western Washington and Yakima using clean and well maintained, late model equipment. Coast Aluminum provides a clean, safe work environment with opportunity for advancement. · Late model Kenworth and Volvo day-cab trucks; flat-bed trailers with roll-top canopies. · Loading done by overnight crew. No touch freight! · LTL delivery; 8-12 stops/day avg. No overnights! · Routes vary and average 100-300 miles per day. · Monday-Friday work, 5am start time. Frequent OT. · $26-$29/hr. with incentive programs to earn more! · Full benefits after 60 days, including vacation/sick/bereavement pay, 401k. · Company provided safety equipment including rainwear, gloves, work shirts, safety glasses, along with a bi-annual steel toe work-shoe voucher provided after 1 year of service. · Company phone provided for ELD, communication with the office, and calls to customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Pre/post-trip inspection of truck and trailer. · Secure load using straps/blocks/etc in safe manner. · Deliver to multiple customers within a specified region in a timely manner. · Pickup material from customers/vendors when required (seldom) · Unstrap load for mechanical offload and re-secure multiple times per day. · Apply snow chains when required. · Maintain clean, orderly cab/windows. Exterior washing done by a commercial service. · Report vehicle defects to supervisor · Collect payment for goods (seldom). · Comply with state/federal laws and regulations. · Complete monthly video safety training videos/tests. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE · Minimum 23 years old · Prefer 2 years verifiable Class A driving experience; flatbed experience a plus · CDL Class A licensed for interstate operation. · Ability to read/write/speak English fluently. · Must pass DOT drug screen pre-hire including random testing upon hire. · Must be qualified to operate a manual transmission (no automatic exempted) · Must have clean driving record · Obtain and use steel-toed shoes/boots, company shirts provided. · Must be able to sit for extended periods, stand, crouch, climb, lift 50lbs, and be exposed to outdoor heat, rain, snow, wind, dust, etc. on occasion. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals. Must be able to read a tape measure. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Class A License.Must possess a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain a valid DOT Medical Card.
