Trust & Governance Engineer

We are looking for a Trust & Governance Engineer to join our Security Team with experience building governance, risk, compliance, and privacy programs. Through routine collaboration with Legal, Internal Audit, and technical teams, you’ll help refine DigitalOcean’s security and privacy posture to better support our customers. You will act autonomously to engage with cross-functional teams to enhance, and sometimes identify, technical changes which improve our privacy and security program.
As a member of the Security Engineering team, you will report to the  Manager of Trust & Governance. You’ll have a direct impact in maintaining DigitalOcean’s regulatory compliance, managing vendor risk, enhancing customer trust, and implementing privacy program requirements on one of the largest global public cloud environments.Â
What You’ll Be Doing:Â
- Support annual compliance workloads (i.e. SOX, SOC II, HIPAA, etc). and the creation of additional compliance offerings (i.e. CIS Benchmark) to provide value to DigitalOcean customers
- Create and/or augment business processes to enhance DigitalOcean’s compliance posture on relevant topics, the types of information we collect, and how that information may potentially be shared through the course of business
- Oversee user access review procedures to promote alignment with compliance standards
- Manage communications and awareness campaigns for security and privacy topics to keep DigitalOcean employees and customers up to date with the latest developments.
- Engage prospective customers on their security-related questions and queries. Also, work with customer account managers to highlight DigitalOcean’s security posture as a differentiator
- Document and maintain DigitalOcean security policies, controls, and security risk managementÂ
- Familiarity with enabling business practices to support SOX and SOC II audits preferred
- An understanding of how compliance / privacy regulations impact technology, hosting, and cloud companies
- Demonstrated project management experience, for achieving cross-functional outcomes
- Comfort with learning and navigating new technologies
- Ability to work with ambiguity and a habit of approaching new problems with creativity
- We reward our employees. The base salary range for this position is between $100,000.00 - $145,000.00 based on relevant years of experience and skills. The salary range for this role is specific to candidates located within the U.S. and will vary for candidates outside the U.S.. Employees may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees including grants of equity upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
