York Space Systems is looking for a talented TT&C/RF Engineer with a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work closely with our technology partners and regulatory agencies to perform detailed reviews of link budgets, coverage capabilities and to determine target satellite capabilities. The ideal candidate would be the type of person who looks for opportunities to improve the space link efficiency through system design. As a TT&C engineer at York, you will be the liaison between Product Development, Operations, Suppliers and Engineering, and provides high level definition of requirements for new product development to maintain the leading York Space Systems products and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Architects RF system designs for the York communication systems with components as required to build out transmitters and receivers.
  • Perform RF analysis to define vendor requirements for communication system hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with. while challenging applicable regulations and program requirements to balance with technical requirements and best design practices.
  • Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
  • Confirm and verify product performance by designing and conducting tests.
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
  • Manage action as required to incorporate applicable changes that are determined to provide benefits in accordance with departmental objectives and management directive.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks across different programs and projects.
  • Work across a diverse team of internal and external stakeholders to achieve the mission objectives.
  • Be customer facing, from a program perspective and technically, communicate with the customer at regular tag-ups and in formal reviews. 
  • Support proposal work. be able estimate data throughputs and support trades (cost/schedule/performance) at various level of proposal maturities.
  • Collaborate with vendors. be familiar with potential vendor capabilities, manage relationship and deliverables with vendors under contract
  • Coordinate lab testing. be familiar with test equipment and procedures. Use lab testing to obtain a high confidence of mission success.
  • Support FCC / NTIA / ITU coordination, be familiar with regulatory framework.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and/or RF Engineering, with some communication/satellite development background including, but not limited to, RF Communications and Information Systems.
  • 3+ years of industry exposure: Satellite/Spacecraft Design, and RF System Design.
  • An ability and willingness to share knowledge, skills, and experience in an environment which focuses on coaching for improvement.
  • Understand space-to-ground and space-to-space communications architectures. have a firm understanding of analog (antenna, amplifiers, filters, etc.), and digital (SDR, modulation, coding, crypto) domains
  • Be familiar with commonly used satellite modulation and coding standards, (CCSDS, DVBS2, etc.), as well as potential future standards (IoT, 5G NTN)
  • Systems engineering experience within the space industry.
  • Knowledgeable background in spacecraft electronics.
  • Ability to perform under deadline, accountable and self-driven.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized and a decent multitasker. Likes working across multiple projects. 
  • Detail orientated and data driven.
  • Motivated, goal orientated and persistent.
  • May require some travel to support testing and launch.
