At Twist Bioscience, we serve customers who are improving the world in fields such as medicine, agriculture, industrial chemicals, and data storage. Using our synthetic DNA tools, our customers are developing ways to better their lives and improve the planet's sustainability.
The Twist IBT Summer Fellowship is a focused six-week summer internship intended for upper-division students from top-tier undergraduate colleges and universities who want to work in a dynamic biotechnology environment for the summer after their sophomore or junior year. The program provides practical experience and insight into how innovative academic and industrial research is translated into a great commercial product.
Summer Fellows will work on a focused technical project that they can call their own, ranging from possible topics like synthetic biology information technology to optimization algorithms and statistical learning (AI) software to stepwise biotechnology manufacturing execution systems. The projects you work on will be fun and interesting and will give you substantial exposure to the world of biotechnology.
As an intern, you will be entrusted with tasks that require specific skills and are crucial to the project. These tasks are not just for learning; they are important as they will aid in completing the project.
What You’ll Be DoingÂ
- Interns will be assigned a project that can be completed during the six-week period.Â
- Work on a project in the areas of data sciences and bioinformatics.
- Perform data analysis and interpretation to support ongoing projects.
Project Assistance
- Research: Conducting research on new technologies or industry trends.
- Testing: Assisting with software testing and quality assurance.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Project support: Providing general support to IT projects
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- A strong interest in biology and computer science.
- Demonstrated (projects or classes) skills to perform basic data analysis.
- Great communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- A desire to be in the office every day working with the team at Twist.
Preferred Qualifications
- Students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in any of the computer science, physical science, or engineering disciplines.
- Students who are familiar with any of the major programming languages.
- Students about to enter their Junior or Senior year.
The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.
San Francisco Bay Area Pay Range
$20—$21 USD
