UI/UX Designer

We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to join our programming team in Boulder. As UI/UX Designer at Ascend Analytics, you will be responsible for designing functional, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly interfaces and websites.

Responsibilities

• Identify target user groups and carry out interviews or other types of inquiry to help understand user needs
• Ensure the creation and implementation of customized experiences for our users
• Produce high-quality solutions through flow diagrams, graphic designs, storyboards, mock-ups, and site maps
• Provide guidance on the implementation of UX research techniques and testing activities to assess user behavior
• Maintain a competitive edge against competitor products and industry trends
• Understand product specifications and user psychology and predict what might work for both

Qualifications:

Required:

• A BS or higher is required in User-Centered Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Confidently use React or Razor
• Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers
• Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps
• Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets
• Build page navigation buttons and search fields
• Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look
• Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches, and tables)
• Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
• Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
• Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
• Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors, and images

Preferred:

• Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role
• Portfolio of design projects – especially complex, web-based UI designs
• Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD, etc.)
• Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
• Good time-management skills
• Interest or experience in energy, particularly renewables
• Unjaded and positive attitude

Compensation ($80,000 - $120,000)

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
