UI/UX Developer

Effectual UI/UX Developers are members of the Professional Services (PS) team responsible for the overall UI/UX design of an application Effectual has been contracted to develop. Effectual UI/UX Developers are “Brand Ambassadors” that use their knowledge of UI/UX development to demonstrate how Effectual’s experience, expertise, and execution translate into compelling end-user experiences.  

UI/UX Developers are passionate about creating easy to use and engaging user interfaces. They have a knack for knowing what will resonate with their audience and can anticipate how users will try to use a product to design around those desires appropriately. The ideal UI/UX developer can speak with the C-Suite as easily as they are able to speak with members of the software development team, translating what they hear in all forums into a compelling UI/UX.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Creating desirable end-user experiences by:

• Communicating with clients to understand their business goals and objectives
• Participating in the design and development of product interfaces
• Creating prototypes for new product ideas
• Testing new ideas before implementing
• Conducting user research and creating user persona
• Ensuring interfaces are intuitive, visually appealing, and well branded and technically feasible
• Delivering well documented, formatted, tested, and efficient code on schedule
• Being familiar with statement of work (SoW) deliverables related to UI/UX development and planning for the timely creation of all items
• Optimizing existing user interface designs

• Supporting the broader delivery team by:
  • Working collaboratively with delivery team colleagues to ensure designs goals are efficiently met
  • Communicating client business goals and objectives
• Fostering continual learning and collaboration by:
  • Serving as a mentor to team members around leading practices
  • Building consensus amongst all technical stakeholders on how to present various ideas
• Supporting rigorous project governance and execution achieved through:
  • Attending team meetings when requested
  • Providing regular progress updates on all work activities to TPMs
  • Submitting time on assigned projects, daily
• Supporting fellow project delivery team members by:
  • Always operating with transparency
  • Being responsive to requests from team members for information
  • Communicating working preferences and understanding the working preferences of others to help develop a high-performing team that operates with respect, effectiveness, and efficiency
  • This is a 4 month contract role. The first month of employment will require 40 hrs. per week. The following remainder of the contract will be 16 hrs. per week. 

• 3+ years of continual experience in UI and software development
• Demonstrable experience in all phases of software engineering to include requirements analysis, development, testing and integration, maintenance, and problem resolution
• Expertise designing wireframes and implementing modern design patterns
• Strong command of JavaScript frameworks, particularly ReactJS, NodeJS, and MaterialUI
• Ability to resolve cross-browser compatibility issues
• Ability to work with multiple clients, in parallel, managing competing project deadlines
• Ability to maintain a big-picture vision while defining very detailed requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Adaptable, dependable, and independent

• One or more cloud certifications (e.g.: AWS Cloud Practitioner)
• UX or human factors design certification.
• Experience with mobile application development
