The RLI Surety team is growing, and we are looking to hire an Underwriting Assistant. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of duties primarily focused on supporting our underwriting teams and providing great service to our agent and broker partners. The position provides a healthy mix of both individual contribution and team collaboration, so is eligible for a hybrid schedule once training and job performance has been established. If you like the rewards and challenges involved with working hard, solving problems and learning new things, then this is a job to consider. Surety experience would be ideal, but not required. If you have experience with general insurance, financial services or related industries that’s great-we can train you from there.
 Position PurposeUnder occasional supervision, provides overall ownership for service quality within a particular underwriting region or function. Supports the administration of a product line’s underwriting functions.Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide support to our national underwriting teams.
• Responsible for overall ownership of service quality within a particular underwriting region.
• Generate and process premium billings for policy issuance.
• Research and help resolve billing and account current discrepancies.
• Bond document issuance for specialty programs.
• Monitor project status communication between our underwriters, agents and contractors.
• Assist in answering questions and request from external contacts.
• Assist in special projects and other duties as needed.

Education & Experience

• Typically requires a high school diploma 
• 1+ years of related experience for consideration
• [OR] equivalent level of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

• Ability to use analytical methods in underwriting processes to find workable solutions.
• Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external contacts on underwriting matters.
• Ability to use software to summarize and analyze large amounts of data.
