JOB DESCRIPTION:
Underwriting Associates for our Excess Casualty Renewal Center provide lead umbrella and excess layer renewal support to all CNA branches for eligible Excess Casualty accounts for a diverse mix of business and industry classes including Manufacturing, Real Estate, Technology, Retail, Hospitality, Wholesale Distribution and Professional Services. Accounts range in size up $100M in revenue with up to 50k in premium. CNA distributes its products through Agency and Broker partners and manages those relationships through high visibility, superior customer service, and underwriting excellence.
You will be responsible for renewal underwriting and servicefrom submission through policy issuance, as well as post issuance issues and pre-renewal reviews for eligiblemonoline (unsupported) Lead Umbrella and Excess layer casualty renewals. This includes the key processes of risk evaluation, quoting and binding. .
**This position can work fully remote or hybrid at one of our field offices.**
Performs a combination of duties for lead Umbrella and Excess renewals in compliance with departmental guidelines, standards and Letter of Authority
1. Handles renewal of assigned accounts, sets priorities, addresses potential changes and outlines referral items for accounts outside authority.
2 Conducts pre-renewal reviews to identify issues requiring correction, changes or special handling and sends appropriate Conditional Renewal of Non- Renewal notices.
3. Performs underwriting analysis of exposures, losses, coverage and attachment points to determine acceptability of risk and documents thought process / reasoning behind assessments and decisions.
4. Executes on pricing and setting terms and conditions in accordance with underwriting strategies 5. Completes quote proposals, negotiates with external partners to achieve orders to bind and issues binders.
6. Maintains underwriting file order and documentation per standards.
7. Leveraged as the first-line point of contact to producers on account related matters.
8. Works to resolve account issues involving items such as endorsements, systems or billing and involves others at CNA, as warranted, such as billing and collections, IT, shared services, operations, claims, field underwriters and business unit leaders.
9. Keeps current on line of business strategies, underwriting guidelines and trends.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities
1. Experience in and knowledge of Casualty underwriting, preferably Umbrella and Excess Casualty..
2. Strong analytical skills and ability to succinctly document thought processes behind analysis.
3. Demonstrated time management skills, ability to work independently on multiple tasks and set priorities
4. Strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbally and written). .
5. Customer service experience and the ability to effectively interact with a wide-variety of people on a daily basis in person via telephone and email.
6. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
2. Typically a minimum of three years of insurance work experience.
