Underwriting Data Analytics Intern
Job Description
MEMIC’s Summer Internship Program identifies college students who want real-world experience that will allow them to gain valuable knowledge and skills within their field of study. This is a paid internship that can also be credited towards the student’s degree. The program will last 11 weeks, beginning on June 5th and ending on August 18th. This opportunity will be full-time (37.5 hours per week).
The Underwriting Data Analytics intern will be responsible for supporting Underwriting operations by: data scrubbing, descriptive analytics, and Power BI visualization reporting. They will assist other departments as needed on interdepartmental analytics projects and needs. The intern will assist the Manager, Operations Services on other data related projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Manager, Operations Services and Data Analytics team with data scrubbing, descriptive analytics, and Power BI reporting.
- Migration of Beacon scheduled reports to Power BI Server.
- Help with Insights testing and coverage for monthly/ad hoc reports.
- Utilize Power BI for various department and company projects.
- Supports other areas of the Underwriting department on data-related projects and initiatives.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be pursuing an Associate's degree or above. Mathematics, Economics, Business or other related undergraduate degree preferred.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in coding (various languages) is preferred.
- Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work with a team.
