Unix Engineer

Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities • Perform tasks related to daily operations and maintenance of Unix/Linux systems in an Enterprise environment.• Provide/maintain procedural documentation for operational tasks pertaining to system hardware and operating systems.• Install and verify operating system patches.• Manage problem ticketing queue, escalating issues and requests as necessary.• Perform additional tasks as requested.

Minimum Qualifications • 3+ years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration.• Exposure to a wide variety of Unix/Linux operating systems and system management tools.

Additional Desired Qualifications • Knowledge of infrastructure tools:

o Puppet (preferred) or Ansible

o Nagios

o Unix/Linux scripting languages (bash, Perl, Python)

Physical Requirements • Must be willing to work as part of an on-call rotation providing mandatory and necessary server support.• Some travel may be required.• Ability to lift 50 lbs.• Extended periods of standing or sitting.• Use of electronic equipment, including computers and telephones, for extended periods.
