Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of UNIX engineers and consultants, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and develop strategies to meet their UNIX infrastructure needs.
- Oversee the design and architecture of UNIX-based solutions, ensuring alignment with NT's requirements and industry best practices.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including scoping, planning, resource allocation, and timely delivery of UNIX projects.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' existing UNIX infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and proposing effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for UNIX-related inquiries, escalations, and issue resolution.
- Provide expert-level UNIX consultation and support to clients, addressing complex technical challenges and ensuring the stability and performance of UNIX environments.
- Define and enforce UNIX system administration standards, including user management, access controls, backup and recovery processes, and security measures.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and UNIX-related advancements, and incorporate them into the organization's strategy and service offerings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as network operations, administrators, database administrators, and security specialists, to integrate UNIX systems at NT.
- Develop and implement performance optimization strategies, scalability plans, and disaster recovery procedures for UNIX environments.
- Monitor and analyze UNIX system performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to UNIX systems and data security.
- Establish and maintain documentation standards, including system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and knowledge base resources.
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new tools, technologies, and service providers to enhance the UNIX engineering and consulting practice.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging professional growth, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within UNIX engineering or consulting, with a track record of successfully managing teams and delivering complex projects.
- Strong expertise in UNIX operating systems (e.g., Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Linux) and related technologies.
- Deep understanding of UNIX system architecture, file systems, processes, networking, and security principles.
- Extensive knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) in the context of UNIX environments.
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python) for system administration and configuration management.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop high-performing technical teams.
- Strong business acumen and client-facing skills, with the ability to understand client needs, provide strategic guidance, and build lasting relationships.
