The Block is seeking an editor/writer to help cover the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, as well as the movers and shakers who are working on the bleeding edge of financial technology. Your role will be to help maintain our coverage of breaking news and the latest happenings in the industry. The role will involve a dynamic mix of both writing daily news and quickly editing copy from other reporters. 

Responsibilities

• Report on and cover the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry
• Collect, verify and report out newsworthy information quickly
• Build a network of contacts, analysts and sources in the industry
• Write and deliver news stories, using clean copy that needs minimal editing by others before publication
• Quickly copy edit stories written by other journalists, prioritizing accuracy and clear and succinct language
• Contact, interview and research sources, when the opportunity arises
• Be an expert on social media and news feeds, knowing where and how to look for primary sources of information in real-time
• Partner with other reporters and editors to provide best-in-class content coverage
• Stay up-to-date with the latest current events in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry

Qualifications

• Located in the U.S. or willing to work on a U.S. time schedule
• Prior writing and reporting experience in crypto / digital assets
• Prior editing experience
• Experience with cryptocurrency and blockchain is recommended
• An ability to juggle multiple stories and deadlines
• A track record of interviewing and interacting with primary sources
• Passion for technology, and a dash of skepticism where warranted
• Social-media savvy
• English-language mastery
