The Financial Times are looking for an HR Generalist to join the team in New York. This position calls for resourcefulness, agility, and someone who thrives on change.Ā Working as part of the Global HR Team this role will deliver a proactive, customer-focused HR service that meets the needs of our global business. The client groups are frequently demanding and require an immediate, bespoke HR service, so you will be required to be responsive and you will demonstrate the ability to become a trusted confidante very quickly. Ā
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ā

Provide efficient operational HR support to the US teams, identifying priorities and delivering a proactive, engaging and agile business-focused HR service

Responsibility for overseeing the US payroll in collaboration with the US Payroll Specialist based in Manila, Philippines

Partner with managers to handle employee relations issues, which includes advising on disciplinary and grievance procedures, performance improvement plans etc

Own the outputs from the employee engagement survey including leading on interventions identified in the survey

Manage the HR Assistant and the US Payroll SpecialistĀ
-
Process and oversee internal, state and federal periods of leave as well as escalated benefit cases

Partner with the global mobility team on US inbound and outbound moves

Actively support transitional HR projects such as new benefit introductions, Workday developments etc

Partner with the Learning & Talent team to understand and address US development needs, to include organization and sometime facilitation of training; supporting regional delivery of global initiatives etc

Partner with HR Data & Insights and HR Systems teams to develop and maintain Workday features and enhancements.Ā

Evaluate company policies and procedures to ensure consistency, relevance and Group-wide understanding of the same

Identify opportunities and support delivery of employee engagement programs in the US office

Lead on annual reporting such as affirmative action reporting

Lead on annual processes such as 401k true up calculations, 401k profit sharing calculations

Partner with global managers, demonstrating your ability to network and establish and maintain your credibility globally

Lead and participate in Global FT HR projects as and when required

Establish a strong internal and external HR network to leverage best practice around Company and industry trends

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Minimum of 5 yearsā HR experience gained in a fast paced, global environment

Experience of managing end to end payroll

Desire to grow and gain HR knowledge and experience

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

An enthusiastic team player and big picture thinker with proven ability to combine creativity, efficiency and sound judgment

A critical thinker and expert problem-solver with the ability to propose and apply fair and considered people approaches that supports business strategy

Ability to build credibility quickly with an understanding of the challenges of the business leaders

Self-starter with high energy and a proven ability to āmake a differenceā

Interested in experimenting and incorporating AI into ways of working

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Knowledge of the media landscape and industry networks
Ā This position pays in the range of $93,000 - $105,000 base plus a competitive bonus package, depending on experience. The disclosed range estimate is for our NYC office. We operate a hybrid working schedule which means this role will be required to spend a minimum of 2 days a week in our New York office.Ā
