Team and Position Summary:
US Omni Tech: This is the team which builds reusable technologies that aid in acquiring customers, onboarding and empowering merchants besides ensuring a seamless experience for both these stakeholders. They also optimize tariffs and assortment, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost. In addition to ushering in affordability, they also create personalized experiences for customers the omnichannel way, across all channels - in-store, on the mobile app and websites.
Marketplace business is a key part of Walmart US ecommerce. The objective of the marketplace engineering organization is to build the best in class marketplace experience for our sellers and customers. The senior manager 1 - data scientist role will be leading the data engineering team and will play a key role working along with others within the Marketplace engineering organization, product managers and business stakeholders to build Machine Learning products.
Position Responsibilities
A Senior Manager I - Data Engineering is responsible for managing a team of Data Science/ML experts.• Having expertise analyzing large data sets to develop multiple custom models and algorithms to drive innovative business solutions.• Works on large project teams in order to provide data engineering and science expertise and guidance to an assigned area on for large projects.• Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects• Provides supervision, coaching and development opportunities for associates
Position Requirements• Proficiency in data mining, modelling, validation and insight generation.• Excellent working knowledge of statistics, mathematics and machine learning algorithms.• Proficiency in coding languages, including Python and SQL• Practical experience with Google cloud platform, Microsoft Azure• Spark, PySpark, Hive experience desired• Ability to work with large data sets. Has sound understanding of big data technology stack.• Understanding of GCP and large-scale databases• Proven ability to collaborate and work in teams• Excellent with communications and stakeholder engagement• Data science publications in recognized platforms/journals• Proven ability to lead agile data engineering and science sprint projects• Research new techniques and best practices within the industry.• Validate models and algorithmic techniques.• Retail experience preferred• Master's degree in Statistics/Mathematics/Management/Data Science from a premier institute. And 12+ years of experience in the field of data engineering and data science.
