As a Sr Manager II, Software Engineering part of Sam's Club, you will help coach and guide the team, partner with our Architects, Engineers, Product, UX, and Ops teams, to ensure we build quality, sustainable, scalable products for our Associates and Members.
What you'll do:
  • Provide guidance and lead a team of engineers to build quality software and hardware solutions for our Associates and Members that reduce waste and gain efficiency
  • Oversees the development of conceptual, logical, or physical hardware and software designs by ensuring the integration of multiple processes (for example, business, application, technology, information).
  • Improves the hardware or software technology environment by utilizing industry research; researching the latest developments in hardware or software technology applicable to the enterprise; analyzing industry best practices; and benchmarking internal processes and solutions against industry technology and trends
  • Ensure Software Quality Engineering by keeping the engineers up to date on best practices, automated code testing, alerts, reporting, and taking a proactive approach to production running app support.
  • Develops and implements product development strategies using Agile development processes by using iterative and incremental development processes; collaborating between self-organizing, cross-functional teams for requirements and solutions; and promoting adaptive planning, evolutionary development and delivery for rapid and flexible response to change.
  • Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance; accordingly, developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
  • Work closely with the Program and Product Manager, and Scrum Champion to ensure engineering work is pointed and prioritized correctly.
  • Work Cross functionally with your Peers In Club Tech to leverage tools, code, and share ideas to improve all engineering work and be able to build relationships with other areas of the business (Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering Architects) and partner with them to build architecturally sound technical solutions for our Associates and Members
  • Partner with Key Vendors as needed to research, leverage and procure the hardware and software components needed for In Club
  • Assist in the development, training, and mentoring of associates by providing guidance, and building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and working with Director on regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.
  • Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open-Door Policy.
  • Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
  • Willing to participate in recruiting, intern programs, and support In Club peers with interviewing potential candidates as needed.
  • Having 5-7 years of management experience of a large tech team is helpful, but any management experience will do.
  • Familiarity in an Agile environment a plus
  • Retail experience a plus

The annual salary range for this position is $126,000.00-$216,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:
- Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)
- Stock equity incentives
Minimum Qualifications...
