About Emerging Tech Team
The Emerging Tech team is passionate about solving customer and associate problems with the newest technologies. The team is responsible for creating breakthrough capabilities, delivering frictionless experiences, and making these technologies easily available to thousands of Walmart developers and 2.2 million associates. The applications and services built on these capabilities are used by hundreds of millions of customers daily. We are building new platforms to bring physical and digital world together.

You would be working on challenging problems in terms of enhancing big data platforms to support data science initiatives. All the problems will require building solutions at Walmart scale. You'll make an impact by: • Developing Data Strategy: Understands, articulates, and applies principles of the defined strategy to routine business problems that involve a single function.• Applied Business Acumen: Provides recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business issues. Develops business cases for projects with a projected return on investment or cost savings. Translates business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks and aligns to overall business strategy. Serves as an interpreter and conduit to connect business needs with tangible solutions and results. Recommends new processes and ways of working.• Scaling Systems: Build large scale systems to process customer data. Enable data scientists to run its model in batch and real-time. Continuous collaboration to scale the systems to support model inferencing.• Curiosity & Courage: Demonstrates curiosity and a growth mindset; fosters an environment that supports learning, innovation, and intelligent risk-taking; and exhibits resilience in the face of setbacks.• Digital Transformation & Change: Seeks and implements continuous improvements and encourages the team to leverage new digital tools and ways of working.• Customer Focus: Delivers expected business results while putting the customer first and consistently applying an omni-merchant mindset and the EDLP and EDLC business models to all plans.• Strategic Thinking: Adopts a holistic perspective that considers data, analytics, customer insights, and different parts of the business when making plans and shaping the team's strategy.Focus on our Associates
You'll sweep us off our feet if: • You are a technically strong and high performing individual with excellent communication skills, proven Big Data, distributed systems with good experience in technologies like Spark, Scala, Kafka, and Hadoop• You stay updated with latest research and technology ideas and have a passion to utilize innovative ways to solve problems. Experience with Airflow/Nifi, Kafka streams, Druid or similar technologies.• You can apply principles of the defined strategy to routine business problems.• You are a good story-teller and able to simply articulate the intricacies of your models as well as explain your results clearly to stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:• Experience building and optimizing BigData data pipelines, streaming pipelines, architecture and data sets or Experience in building real-time analytics tools• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.• Experience with stream-processing systems: Spark Streaming, Hive.• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra.• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:• 6+ years of experience in software engineer role, with at least a B.S. (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related major, M.S in Computer science or related major, preferred

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $136,000.00-$200,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

- Stock equity incentives
