(USA) Staff Software Engineer-2

Position Summary...
What you'll do...
As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll spend your days translating requirements into architecture design, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You'll oversee small project teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done.
About Team: Health Platform Services Team
The health Platform Services Team is primarily an API-based interoperability layer for more modern healthcare interoperability needs. As the area grows, our team definition may as well. Currently, we primarily act as a reusable middleware between Walmart and third-party systems to handle healthcare medical records and any business logic needed to support different healthcare teams, including caching and database needs.
What you'll do:

• Leads the work of other small groups of six to ten engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples; identifying short- and long- term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
• Troubleshoots business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; formulating an action plan; directing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues; and completing online documentation.
• Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, Web Operations, project management, business and user experience teams; obtaining cross-function approvals; driving proof-of-concept; and implementing prototypes to validate ideas.
• Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices by leading internal technical teams; partnering with cross-functional teams across the business; developing assessments of key opportunities; documenting project scopes; developing long-range plans and project timelines; communicating with and influencing decision-makers and executives within the organization; and resolving technology differences across teams through informed discussions.

What you'll bring:

• Over 3 years of experience in Technical Solutions Architecture and design leadership.
• Experience with micro-service architecture.
• Strong API design, development, and management.
• Experience in building REST or GraphQL endpoints.
• Experience with platform security including Authentication/Authorization, API Gateway, and SSL termination.
• Experience with telemetry systems, APM alerting and monitoring.
• Experience in continuous integration and delivery.
• Experience with unit testing and automation frameworks.
• Expert level knowledge and understanding of Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra, Rest API, and Spark.
• Ability to build products with focus on testability, someone who loves test coverage (well versed with Mockito and JUnit).
