User Experience Design and Research Intern

To us, a User Experience Design and Research Intern is …someone who smart, open, curious, driven, and accountable.  More specifically, you’re interested in learning about and experiencing how a company engages current and prospective customers with its tools and solutions. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to pursue a career in user experience design and research. Interns will report into the Director of User Experience and support our team of user experience designers and researchers. 

 You can expect to work alongside other interns in our Operations, People and Culture, and Marketing, departments as well as participate in a learning and development program that offers career tips and guidance.  

Some example projects and daily tasks include (but are not limited to):  

• Help plan and conduct usability studies 
• Help analyze usability and other research study results 
• Participate in design workshops 
• Create PowerPoint slides for project status, results, etc..  
• Create screen designs and light prototypes 

Competitive candidates… 

• Are pursuing educational coursework in Design, Computer Science, Cognitive Psychology, HCI, or related areas. 
• Have experience working with cross-functional teams to solve challenges collaboratively 
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Are interested in technical subject matter relating to the experience of software developers and the people they collaborate with in their work.  
• Are excited about helping to create stellar experiences for the users of SmartBear tools
• Have experience conducting and analyzing research interviews (or a willingness to learn).  
• Have experience with screen design tools such Figma and an interest in user-centered design.  
• Have experience with the MS Office Tools, especially, Powerpoint and Excel.  
• Are self-starters, proposing solutions to problems with data and research
