Job Description
Summary
As a Utility Systems Repairer Operator, you will be responsible for independent operation, maintenance, and minor repair of large industrial chiller units as well as operating and maintaining various plant systems such as steam boilers.
This is an open continuous job announcement. Applications will be reviewed for qualifications and eligibility to be issued to Selecting Officials using the cut off dates as indicated below in the Additional Information Section.

- Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation, verification of qualifications, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, and any other job-related requirement before or after appointment.

- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- This position requires weekend hours, night shifts, regular or rotational shifts, holiday hours.
- This position has on-call or call-back requirements.
- The selectee must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle license.
- If selected, you will be covered by a bargaining unit (union).
- The selectee must be able to acquire an EPA Universal Technician Certification within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

- Ability to do the work without more than normal supervision (Screen Out)
- Knowledge of equipment assembly installation, repair, etc.
- Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
- Use of measuring instruments
- The ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc (includes blueprint reading)
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment

This is an open continuous job announcement. Initial applications packages will be reviewed for qualifications and eligibility to be issued to Selecting Officials as indicated below. Any additional applications received after the scheduled times, will be reviewed, and issued to Selecting Officials on an as-needed basis.

- Final cut off date is the closing date of the announcement, June 30, 2024.
- This position is designated as an "emergency essential" position and the selected candidate will be considered an "emergency essential" employee and will be required to be available, ready, willing, and able to report for duty under all circumstances (e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapses in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations) for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage.
- If selected, you must have or the ability to obtain an EPA Universal Technician Certification as required by Section 608 of the Clean Air Act within 60 days of hire.

- If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
- You must be able to lift and move heavy items weighing 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- You must be able to stand for prolonged periods on concrete floors and walk over rough and uneven terrain with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- The selectee must be able to bend, stoop, walk, stand, and climb, and work in cramped positions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- You may work in hazardous environments or handle hazardous substances.
- The selectee must be able to work outdoors under all weather conditions.
