Job Description:

The UX designer will be responsible for building a comprehensive understanding of client needs and opportunities via a structured research interaction with internal advocates, research participants, clients, and prospects. They will need to create resources (wireframes, design artifacts, documentation) that empower software engineers to implement specific functionality consistently while constructively participating in the design review meetings of peers. They will need to increase the consistency and efficacy of existing user interface metaphors throughout the platform. Our UX designer will be responsible for holding UX design review meetings for their work and facilitating design reviews and knowledge transfer in such a way that participants recognize the value and commit to recurring engagements. They will need to contribute to the extension of resources (including design systems, documentation, and training material) that empower software engineers in the organization to contribute to the advancement of our UX consistency by adopting and leveraging leading design patterns on their own.

Competencies:

The UX designer will have a clear and demonstrable command of the language and leading practices of UX design. They will need to demonstrate the value of strong convictions (lightly held) by validating hypothesis through touchable, testable prototypes and usability testing while also translating wide-ranging insights and requirements into simple, elegant, highly usable designs for customers across many verticals. The UX designer will have demonstrated a preference for a design approach centered around people, with proven design experience, excellent interaction and structural design ability, and proven methodologies for identifying and solving problems. They will have an understanding that user experience encapsulates the total product ecosystem, going beyond the interface to include information architecture, interaction design, content, and visual design. They will need to understand the balance of user experience, business case, and time-to-release, and make tradeoffs where appropriate while being able to understand a situation from another person's perspective and respond with compassion and design implementations that reflect that compassion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Atlanta based, hybrid model (Tuesday and Wednesday in office)
  • 3+ years of experience specifically involving design strategy and/or research, and utilizing the correct processes, tools, and methodologies for mapping product implementation to the needs and experiences of the user
  • Design portfolio available for review
  • Ability to thrive in an agile environment and utilize multiple approaches to gaining insights - from analytics to "guerrilla" to traditional.
