Job Description

Ansys is the global leader in engineering simulation. We empower the world's most innovative companies to deliver transformational products to their customers. By offering the best and broadest portfolio of engineering simulation software solutions, we help our customers solve the most complex design challenges and engineer products limited only by imagination. Whether you are a software developer, product engineer, sales team member, or part of our corporate team, at Ansys we know that by embracing what makes us each unique, we become collectively better.

Who We Are

AGI, an Ansys company, develops commercial off-the-shelf software for aerospace and defense. We deliver mission modeling and simulation software that can be used from concept design through mission operations. For over 30 years AGI has been a pioneer in bringing physics-based software tools to hundreds of innovative companies, ranging from startups to Fortune 500 organizations.

Overview

User experience (UX) designers at AGI work with developers, engineers, and product management to analyze, design, and refine user interfaces that serve complex scientific fields. As a designer at Ansys, the global leader in engineering simulation, you will be helping countless companies advance their industries by providing tools to solve their most complex design challenges.

Opportunity

The UX team works for many development groups throughout AGI, gathering user feedback and needs, setting common design standards, creating concept sketches for features, and providing end-to-end detailed interpretations of how a system's interface will work, look, and support its users.

Tasks may include:
  • User experience / interface design
  • Design problem solving
  • Low and high-fidelity mock-ups
  • Detailed design specification documentation
  • Communication with developers, project leads, and subject-matter experts to reach a feasible design
  • UX critique and feedback sessions
  • Analyzing and documenting system-wide design standards
  • Development-cycle planning and design input
  • New-development testing

Note that this is a design-oriented opportunity and does not require coding, though some knowledge of HTML and CSS is helpful.

Job Requirements

Required

Applicants must meet these criteria to be considered:
  • Bachelor's degree in interaction design, HCI, graphic design, or a related field
  • A portfolio of design work (PDF or website)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, present ideas persuasively, and negotiate with stakeholders
  • Experience with Figma, and/or Adobe XD and Illustrator (or equivalent design software)
  • U.S. citizenship
  • If you do not meet all these requirements, feel free to apply anyway if you believe you're a good fit

Preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a highly-collaborative environment
  • Agile and Lean UX experience
  • Strong English writing proficiency
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS

Benefits

AGI offers medical, dental, and vision options, as well as free food, casual dress, flexible hours, and onsite gym and laundry.
