The Role:

A UX Engineer is a front-end engineer who works on a design team, facilitating collaboration between developers and design. UX Engineers bring together technical knowledge and design aesthetics. They partner with developers, researchers, designers, and more to conceptualize and deliver an effective user experience.

In general, the role of a UX Engineer is to help build design systems — the set of assets and guidelines that convey the identity within flagship products and applications.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with the UX and Engineering teams to deliver a robust Design System that works across multiple product platforms.
• Collaborate with other developers to ensure continuity, group awareness, and ease of future development.
• Work with the UX team during the usability testing processes. Collaborate with Product Managers, Development, QA to ensure prototypes meet the research objectives and experience expectations.
• Spearhead accessibility best practices and develop them into the Design System.
• Transform the design language into a custom CSS library for Kendo.
• Promote the adoption of the design system throughout the organization.
• Turn low-fidelity wireframes or UX designs into high-fidelity, interactive prototypes using the Kendo component library.
• Improve communication and collaboration between the engineering and design teams.
• Help maintain the site for the design system.
• Assist UX colleagues with solving important usability and accessibility problems.
• Ensure the best possible performance and quality.

What You’ll Bring:

• 5 or more years of front-end, user-centered development experience.
• Knowledge of User Experience best practices.
• Working with UX teams.
• Experience and training working with the Agile development methodology.
• Up to date with Angular. (Minimum experience with Angular 10+)
• Up to date with web development with typescript, SASS.
• Experience with and up to date with Progress’s Kendo UI for Angular.
• Ability to elegantly solve complex CSS problems.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Cross-browser testing experience
• Responsive design experience
• Comfortable working in face-paced environments where priorities can quickly change.
• Experience with rapid prototyping.
• Ability to follow the company Design System, design comps, and UX team direction.
• Experience with user interface fundamentals.
• Solid English written and verbal communication, presentation, and people skills.
• Ability to give and receive peer review/feedback graciously.
• Unit testing
• Experience with full lifecycle of development, including product release in an agile environment.
• Experience working on an Agile team in a continuous integration and development environment.
• Must be self-reliant but be able to communicate and contribute in a remote team setting.
• Must be able accommodate numerous time zones of a distributed team.
• Flexible and can adapt to shifting situations and requirements.
• Able to organize, multitask, and prioritize.
• Must be a team player, eager and open to sharing successes and failures.
• Understanding of common software development practices and proficiency working within a software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Self-starter; eager and able to quickly learn modern technologies and approaches.
• Must be self-reliant but be able to communicate and contribute in a remote team setting.
• Able to organize, multitask, and prioritize.

Nice To Have:

• Experience with accessibility best practices for Front-end development.
• Experience working with in GitHub and using GitHub Actions.
• Experience with JIRA and understanding working with custom workflows and processes.
• Experience with Confluence and be able to create and maintain meaningful documentation.
• Experience creating and testing accessible, 508 compliant applications.
• Familiarity with Storybook or equivalent documentation solution.
• Experience in asynchronous development with other teams on the same project.
