UX Lead

Summary:

The User Experience Lead will create engaging and powerful enterprise application interfaces for Aptiv Connected Services' suite of automotive quality, fleet management and business intelligence tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing interactions for web applications, as well as managing a team of designers and researchers. This role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and working extensively with cross-functional teams in an innovative development environment.

An Aptiv UX Design Lead:

• Understands and empathizes user's complex workflows, goals, environments, and touchpoints
• Helps shape product innovation by bringing a design-centric perspective to product design collaboration, planning, and prioritization with product managers, software engineers, and stakeholders
• Advocates for customer-centric accessible experiences and design thinking process to cross functional teams.
• Helps to improve product design systems to craft Aptiv's own design practices
• Does what it takes to understand the root cause, no matter how technical (hardware or software)
• Trains and supports the team, and establishes UX best practices

Job Responsibilities:

• Solve user problems in complex, enterprise-grade engineering systems
• Define platform/ecosystem experience architecture (information architecture, journey mapping, etc.)
• Find balance between designing for scale and the future versus current technology and other constraints
• Drive product decisions with analysis/outcomes of design activities to product managers, software engineers, and stakeholders
• Plan qualitative and quantitative user research and testing practices
• Develop end-to-end experiences with user flows, journeys, scenarios, and personas
• Translate insights from user studies, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders into actionable to-do's
• Iterate and rapid prototype designs for testing and validation
• Continue to stay active and current in latest design trends and best practices

Must Haves (Basic Qualifications)

• 5+ years' experience in UX/product design
• 5+ years' mobile and responsive design experience
• Portfolio website detailing case studies demonstrating solid problem-solving skills and UX principles
• Knowledge of front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, and UI frameworks)

Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications)

• Proficiency in UI tools (Sketch/Figma/Adobe XD/etc.), Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools (InVision)
• Experience working with cross-functional teams
• Illustration experience is a plus
• Accessibility trained or certified
• Experience working in automotive/mobility industry is a plus
• Experience working in product management or as a UX/PM hybrid is a large plus
