About Take Command
Take Command Health is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.
Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.
About the UX Manager Role
The successful UX Manager will evidence a passion for delivering adaptive and creative solutions to UX design problems by staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in user experience design. You will ensure that all elements of the online user experience are optimized for improved usability, usefulness, and exceptional visual design. From creating prototypes and visual designs to conducting user research, there's a lot to do and we are eager for you to showcase your expertise to help us do it well!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leverage a human-centered design process to deliver an easy-to-use user interface and user experience
- Combine UX thinking with design execution, to produce usable and intuitive user interfaces
- Facilitate workshops to answer critical business questions through rapid prototyping, and testing ideas with customers
- Design journey maps, navigation design, sitemaps, information architecture, wireframes, storyboards, and prototypes
- Plan and execute a variety of user research and data collection methods to define, shape, and validate features and user-facing designs
- Collaborate with cross-functional agile software product development teams
- Write compelling, user-friendly copy that guides the user and embodies the voice of the brand
Technical skills and qualifications:
- 3+ years of UX Design experience
- Proficient in all areas of user experience design (information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototype engineering, content, user experience)
- Experience managing junior employees as well as offshore team-members
- Experience designing for mobile-first platforms
- Knowledge of industry tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Balsamiq, and Zeplin
- Knowledge of market research, competitive landscape, and testing methods (A/B, multivariate testing)
How we care for our Take Commanders
At Take Command, we’re excited to build a team and culture that reflects our values. We offer competitive pay, health benefits, and equity options to share with this position. We want you to be an owner along with us in revolutionizing healthcare.

- Unlimited personal vacation in addition to regular company holidays.
- 401(k): 30-day eligibility for 2% match that vests immediately!
- Access to executive coaching
- We have a beautiful office conveniently located near The Hill. The kitchen is well stocked (with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks) and we've designed the space to have lots of different areas to work--lounge on the couch, stand near your colleague at a kiosk desk or hole up in one of our phone rooms!
- Paid parental leave for new parents
- Technology stipend--need a new laptop? We can help!
- Flexible on where you work – we hope to see you around the office a few times a week, but you also have the ability to work from home
