UX Manager and Strategist

• Manage a team of talented UX/UI Designers and Researchers for engagement, growth, and excellence.
• Apply your strong UX strategy skills to analyzing product needs, optimizing methods, and prioritizing work for maximum focus and impact.
• Collaborate closely with your design team and cross-disciplinary colleagues to build impactful solutions to SmartBear customer problems.

About the Role

SmartBear seeks a UX Manager and Strategist for our API lifecycle portfolio who enjoys crafting UX strategy for project needs. You will manage a team of UX Designers and Researchers who are striving for excellence in UX practice and strong cross-functional collaboration. Your broad experience in UX design/research will be used to coach your team members, define UX strategy, and maintain a relentless focus on solving important problems for our customers. You will be part of the UX management team, helping to lead the on-going growth, process improvements and overall success of the growing UX team.

• Use your UX/UI/Research experience to coach your team members (hands-on as needed) to reach their full potential and ensure project success and high-quality deliverables.
• Craft UX strategy for your product areas to inform your team’s approach, planning, and ensure alignment with product management and engineering.
• Focus, prioritize, plan, and ensure processes and approaches are the best fit for the project.
• Collaborate cross-functionally, building relationships to deliver on company goals.
• Provide management functions such as hiring, expenses, time-off, and performance evaluations.
• Keep your stakeholders informed about progress and insights.
• Contribute to the UX organization and company level process improvements.

We are looking for you if you have:

• Experience managing UX Design / Research teams or at least 3 yrs experience leading UX projects and a strong interest in moving into a management role.
• Broad UX/UI/Research experience and a demonstrated ability and interest in coaching others.
• UX Strategy skills and experience.
• Strong prioritization, planning, and organizational skills.
• Clear and persuasive communication skills.
• Experience in SaaS based company with a multi-site teams preferred.
• Strong interest in learning / expanding your knowledge of the API lifecycle domain.
